Spain has a population of 46,745,807 inhabitants. They are distributed to 8,112 municipalities (at the 2009 INE census[1]).

Only two municipalities over one million inhabitants: Madrid and Barcelona.

There are 22 cities over 200,000 inhabitants, 33 municipalities between 100,000 and 200,000 inhabitants, and 83 municipalities between 50,000 and 100,000.
